As part of our 30 Under 30 initiative, we’re celebrating the next generation of leaders shaping the future of the maritime industry. Next up is Alexandra Lyons, a US-qualified attorney at Jaffa & Co, and a standout emerging talent within maritime and aviation law.
Alexandra is already distinguishing herself in a highly specialised and competitive area of the industry. Working within Jaffa & Co’s globally recognised superyacht and aviation practice, she contributes to both contentious and non-contentious matters for high net-worth and international clients, bringing a strong foundation in maritime law and complex litigation.
Over the past 12 months, Alexandra has demonstrated an exceptional level of responsibility and impact for her career stage. Prior to joining Jaffa & Co, she managed a significant litigation caseload across maritime, aviation, cargo, and insurance disputes, handling the full lifecycle of cases and operating with a level of independence well beyond typical early-career expectations. Alongside this, she contributed to high-profile appellate work in the United States, acting as a lead drafter on constitutional matters before federal courts and the Supreme Court.
Her achievements extend beyond practice into academia and thought leadership. A high honours graduate of Tulane Law School and former senior editor of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal, she has had two articles selected for publication, a rare distinction, and continues to contribute to legal scholarship within the maritime sector.
What sets Alexandra apart is not just her technical excellence, but her ambition and global outlook. Having already qualified in the United States, she has relocated internationally and is now progressing toward dual UK qualification, positioning herself to operate across two major legal jurisdictions at an unusually early stage in her career.
Balancing the demands of international transition, ongoing qualification, and a fast-paced legal environment, Alexandra has shown resilience, adaptability, and a clear drive to excel. In a field defined by complexity and high expectations, she stands out as someone not only progressing rapidly, but building a truly international and impactful career in maritime law.
