As part of our 30 Under 30 initiative, we’re celebrating the next generation of leaders shaping the future of the maritime industry. Next up is David Greiffenberger, Project Manager overseeing the joint venture between Abu Dhabi Ports Group and Columbia Shipmanagement, and a standout emerging leader within the group.

David Greiffenberger is making waves in the maritime industry at just 26, overseeing the joint venture between Abu Dhabi Ports Group and Columbia Shipmanagement as Project Manager and making him a clear candidate for future leadership within the group.

David started with Columbia as a Dual Student in the Hamburg, Germany office in 2019, completing his studies in International Management with a major in Finance at the Hamburg School of Business Administration and his apprenticeship as Shipping Merchant at the Chamber of Commerce Hamburg. In 2022 he joined the Project Management Team in the companies’ headquarters in Limassol, Cyprus, working closely with Top Management on various projects contributing to the expansion of the Columbia Group.

His responsibilities are the execution of business opportunities and strategic partnerships for the company’s core business of technical and crew management, as well as the development of its maritime services platform. This included the major projects of establishing new Columbia office in Turkey and Romania, the implementation of a digital payment solution for seafarers and many more strategic collaborations with global partners.

In the last 9 months, David has been in charge of setting up Noatum CSM, a new dedicated ship management entity in Dubai, UAE, as a joint venture between Columbia and Abu Dhabi Ports Group. Less than 1 year after its incorporation, Noatum CSM is already managing a fleet of over 40 vessels with a team of over 50 shore-based employees. In his role at Noatum CSM, David oversees and coordinates a wide range of critical functions, from business planning and HR to commercial, financial, legal, and regulatory tasks, all while leading teams of experienced industry professionals. His rapid promotions to manager and senior manager, the fastest the company has ever seen, reflect both his competence and the trust placed in him by Columbia Group’s Top Management.

At the heart of David’s work is an exceptional ability to combine strategic oversight with hands-on management. In just a short time, he has shown he can deliver results, inspire teams, and drive growth in complex, multinational operations, making him an outstanding 30 Under 30 nominee.
