David joined Spinnaker in 2010 and as a result has built up an incredible network of candidates and clients.  David can regularly be found at industry events.  

He has a certificate in Recruitment Practice from the Recruitment & Employment Confederation and graduated from the University of Essex with a BSc in Social Science. He has spoken at various events including Shipping Professional Network in London (SPNL), Young Maritime Professionals, and at the University of Strathclyde.  

In addition to contingency recruitment for clients, David can also provide advice on the recruitment process, CV writing and interview skills for candidates. 

His experience covers shipowners, shipmanagers, maritime associations, flag states, maritime service companies, and product providers across all of the major shipping hubs. 

He has worked on recruitment projects across multiple sectors in the maritime industry and the bulk of his experience at Spinnaker was built working on technical roles including marine engineering and surveying, ship management, technical, environmental and safety advisory, HSEQ / QHSE positions. He now specialises in corporate functions including business development, finance, marketing and sales.  

Being a recruitment consultant wasn’t always David’s dream. When he was younger he wanted to be a pilot in either the RAF or for a commercial airline, and at the age of 16 flew an aircraft solo while training to get his private pilot license!
