Our client is currently looking for a Senior Vessel Operator based in Singapore, the main accountabilities for this position are:

•Operate and be responsible for the end to end management of all allocated vessels’ shipping operations matter, for Dry Cargo ships
•Communicate and liaise with vessel owner’s/ship masters/charterers, trading team and other relevant stakeholders on voyage instructions

•Significant and demonstrated customer or supplier relationship skills
•An interest in and aptitude for people management
•Knowledge of macroeconomics including trade flows
•Commercial Maturity/Shipping or Economic studies
•Fluent in English essential, with other languages an advantage
•Sea-going experience desirable but not essential

Joining a small team, you will be reporting in to the Head of Legal and will be working on a variety of day-to day legal, insurance and operational matters for a mixed fleet of vessels.

The new hire will be required to take on matters with a high degree of autonomy and will be working closely with the operations and chartering team, providing legal advice on charterparty and bill of lading issues, letters of indemnity and disputes/claims. This role will also involve working with the fleets war risk, defence and P&I insurers as necessary on any operational/voyage/dispute matters as they arise.

In light of the above, you must have a commercial mindset and the ability to provide quick but accurate legal advice, be a problem solver who enjoys analysing situations in order to provide expert solutions… or even better avoid them before they become issues.
