Spinnaker have released their 2020 shore-based salary survey.

This year of all years, the Spinnaker salary survey for shore-based jobs is possibly more important to maritime employers than ever as they seek to establish how their peers are reacting to the COVID-19 crisis.

The 2020 Maritime HR Association survey comprised 82 shipping employers (primarily shipowners, operators, ship managers and commodity/oil companies), reporting data for 22,000 maritime industry professionals in 78 countries.

“Spinnaker are proud to be able to provide participants to the survey the most reliable and comprehensive salary data in the shipping industry,” says Phil Parry, Spinnaker’s Chairman. “It’s particularly pleasing that numerous large shipping employers now habitually use the Maritime HR Association job codes as their internal terminology and use the data as their primary benchmarks for setting and reviewing salaries.”

Spinnaker has been providing reliable salary data to shipping employers, their boards and remuneration committees since 2005 when the Maritime HR Association was established.

Spinnaker’s benchmarking staff work with over 150 shipping employers on shore and seagoing compensation data. They also conduct the biennial salary survey of P&I Clubs.
