Teresa Peacock, Managing Director

Teresa has worked in Recruitment and Search for more than three decades.

She completed a management buyout of the Locum Group, and subsequent trade sale to Reed Health some 8 years later, after growing the business from a staff of 25 to 180.

Teresa has experience across a wide range of industries, which includes managing offices and recruitment projects all over the world. Her vast experience means she is perfectly suited to developing and delivering tailored maritime recruitment solutions for Spinnaker’s clients such as the cruise shipowner who needed to hire 40+ fleet management staff including a number of senior appointments for a newly relocated headquarters.

Teresa joined Spinnaker in 2008 and worked alongside the CEO and Chairman as Business Development Director, before becoming Managing Director in 2014.

Teresa is a champion for diversity in the shipping industry, and in her post within WISTA, has worked tirelessly on encouraging change within maritime. Teresa has also contributed to research for the UK government to help with diversity within the workplace as part of the Women in Work APPG. Teresa has also written and spoken extensively on the gender pay gap both within maritime and outside of the industry, using insights from Spinnaker’s salary benchmarking data on the gender pay discrepancy. 

Teresa is actively involved in helping young people at school prepare job applications and mock interviews. She is also involved with promoting careers within shipping, with the ‘Inspiring the Future’ project, which connects schools and colleges with employers and people from the world of work.

Phil Parry, Chairman

Phil co-founded Spinnaker in 1997 and is widely acknowledged for his extensive network within the maritime world. He is an expert in maritime HR and benchmarking issues and was the founder of The Maritime HR Association, which is the global shipping industry’s major source of compensation and benefits data.

Prior to establishing Spinnaker, Phil was a maritime lawyer and practised with shipping law firm Ince & Co where he specialised in shipping and insurance law.

Since 1997, he has recruited hundreds of leaders worldwide for just about every type of shipping employer including shipowners, industry bodies, trading groups, oil majors, consulting firms, banks, suppliers, law firms, marine insurers and shipbrokers.

Phil has been an external examiner on Shipping Masters Degree courses, writes and speaks frequently on maritime and personnel issues and represented BIMCO on the BIMCO/ISF Manpower Steering Committee in 2005, 2010 and 2015. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Management by the University of Plymouth in 2012.

Outside of work Phil restores vintage Porsches and founded and is Chair of the shipping industry OSCAR fundraising campaign for Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, which has raised over £2m for leukaemia and bone marrow transplant research.

Chloe Jones, Researcher, Executive Search

Chloe is a Researcher and has worked for Spinnaker since February 2023. She works alongside Teresa Peacock on the Executive Search desk assisting in sourcing talent for a variety of roles within the industry. Her role requires discretion and care when connecting C-Suite professionals with clients, to provide a tailored recruitment experience.

Chloe studied Sociology at the University of Essex and graduated with a 2:1 in 2018. During her time here she got to fulfil her childhood dream of being a police officer by joining the local officers on a Ride Along Scheme.

In her spare time, Chloe enjoys embarking on adventures with her dog Winnie across the UK, as well as spending time with family & friends.
