Loss Prevention Executive at Leading Maritime Insurance Company

Our client, a prestigious P&I Club, is looking for a Loss Prevention Executive to join their team in the City of London. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned maritime professional to transition into a shore-based role that directly impacts the industry.

Based in the heart of London, our client specializes in providing Protection & Indemnity (P&I), Legal Costs Cover, and associated insurances to smaller and specialist vessel owners, operators, and charterers worldwide. With a rich history spanning more than a century and a half, they are known for their tailored insurance packages that cater to the unique needs of each operator.

The Role

As a Loss Prevention Executive, you will play a crucial role in implementing the company’s Loss Prevention initiatives, including managing the Condition Survey Programme and providing expert technical advice to members, brokers, and internal departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and oversee the efficient operation of the Condition Survey Programme
  • Identify potential risks and suggest solutions related to vessel quality
  • Develop and execute loss prevention programs and materials
  • Manage loss prevention projects, including presentations and crew training
  • Analyze claims causation and devise appropriate preventive measures
  • Build and maintain relationships with members, surveyors, and brokers
  • Produce high-quality reports and analyses for internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide timely and accurate responses to technical inquiries
  • Assist with Management Audits and other projects as required
  • Contribute to the company’s knowledge base through active participation in training and industry events

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a motivated individual with:

  • Chief Mate, First Engineer, or Dual license (lower ranks considered if supplemented by a maritime degree or shore-based experience)
  • Recent seagoing experience, preferably on smaller ships
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Experience with tankers, inland vessels, or tugs (desirable)
  • Training experience (desirable)
  • Proficiency in data analysis using Microsoft Office
  • Enthusiasm for learning and developing in a supportive insurance environment
