We are currently working with a Greek shipowner who are looking for an experienced Operator with a seafaring background to join their team in London. This role would be ideal for someone that has sailed on either bulk or tanker vessels before transitioning into a shorebased operations role. 
 
RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Implement Company Policy and conduct activity according with SMS procedures
  • Assist the Chartering Department in vessels’ pre-fixture process i.e. questionnaires, cargo stowage, etc.
  • Handle the voyage preparation (instructions, port information)
  • Monitoring and handle the voyage proper execution (day to day running of the vessels)
  • Monitoring and handle the cargo operations
  • Assist in documentation of claims
  • Monitoring and assess of pre-loading stowage plan, as well as the Ballast Management Systems
  • Handle and monitoring the agents nominations/appointments, port related issues, approve D/As and vessels’ gratuities.
  • Stem, handle and monitoring the supply of vessels’ bunkers
  • Monitoring the proper supply of  vessel’s navigational and communication equipment.
  • Monitoring the requirements and supply of navigation publications and charts, Monitoring of auto supply
  • Monitoring the radio communication related issues (i.e. expenses/commission/decommission)
  • Monitoring for the vessel’s Documentation & Certification for Flag state, OPA90, AMS, Canada, EU,  War Risk, etc. in conjunction with the Insurance Manager
  • Monitoring the vessel’s Documentation & Certification for Medical Chest
  • Handle and arrange for Drug & Alcohol tests on board.
  • Assist, instruct and attend during ship (vetting) inspections by Oil Major Companies as required
  • Familiarize masters with instructions/guidelines/practices related to the vessels’ operational performance
  • Participate in the analysis of the Company environmental activities-aspects-impacts
  • Complying with the SMS procedures and requirements and demonstrating his commitment to HSSQE excellence by their behaviour.
  • Ensuring the safe and environmentally sound operation of the vessels.
  • Ensuring that the working conditions in the office are safe.
  • Coordinating with the Technical department in relation to the vessels’ performance, any technical issues arising and third-party inspection issues.
  • Monitoring prompt delivery of vessel’s provisions and stores in order to avoid vessel’s delay
  • Emergency response team support
  • Issue and update vessels position list when required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master or Chief Officer license (optional)
  • Seagoing experience on rank
  • Good communication and computer skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Greek and English language
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in the same position 
  • It’s worth noting that this role will be office based 5 days per week
