Port Captain – India

Company Description: Our client is a global leader in the shipping and logistics industry, specializing in bulk cargo transportation. With a strong presence in India, they are expanding their operations and are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Port Captain to join their team. 

Job Description: As the Port Captain, you will be responsible for overseeing all port operations activities in both Atlantic and Pacific, with a focus on Breakbulk and Project Cargo handling. You will work closely with the local team and be responsible for building relationships with port authorities, terminals, and surveyors. Your main objective will be to ensure smooth and efficient port operations, while adhering to all regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities: 

• Manage and oversee all port operations activities mainly in the Pacific region, with a focus on breakbulk and project cargo
• Build and maintain relationships with port authorities, terminals, and surveyors
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards
• Coordinate vessel loading and unloading operations, ensuring efficient cargo handling
• Collaborate with internal teams to optimize cargo planning and tracking processes
• Travel to different ports in India as required (approximately 50-60% of the time)
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in port operations

Requirements:-

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in port operations, preferably in breakbulk, project cargo and completed stowage plans
• Strong knowledge of Indian ports and their specific operational challenges
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Indian citizenship or permanent residency is preferred
