Exciting Opportunity: Technical Compliance Officer in Maritime Affairs
  
Our client, a prestigious Flag State Administration with an excellent international reputation, is looking to hire a highly skilled and experienced Technical Compliance Officer to join their Maritime Affairs team. This role offers a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about maritime flag state policy and international conventions.
  
Position Overview
  
As a Technical Compliance Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our client’s stellar reputation in the international maritime arena. You’ll be responsible for conducting important maritime research, reviewing documents, and preparing internal briefing papers for the state and stakeholders in international forums.
  
Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Maritime Affairs team in all relevant matters
  • Support IMO-related work, including document review and preparation of briefing notes
  • Participate in industry-based correspondence and working groups
  • Conduct research on current maritime interests, statistics, and data analysis
  • Maintain databases of meeting records, submissions, and reports
  • Contribute to Quality Assurance and maintain internal filing systems
  • Organize multi-organizational meetings and webinars
  • Manage departmental contributions to internal website and social media
  • Represent the department at IMO sub-committee meetings
  • Apply international maritime regulations, theories, and concepts

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Senior Certificate of Competency as Master or Chief Engineer Officer, OR
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant maritime discipline (e.g., Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ship Science, Maritime Science), OR
  • Senior-level seagoing experience (minimum Chief Officer/Second Engineer Officer, preferably Master/Chief Engineer)
  • Survey experience with a recognized Classification Society or flag State Administration
  • Understanding of Flag State roles and responsibilities
  • Experience in attending IMO or other maritime industry meetings

  • Proficiency in multiple UN languages is an advantage
