Technical Compliance Officer – Maritime Registry

About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a prestigious ship registry based in London to recruit an experienced Technical Compliance Officer for their Inspections & Surveys Department. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established organization at the forefront of maritime compliance and safety.

Position Overview
As Technical Compliance Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the registry’s high standards of maritime safety and compliance. You will work within a dynamic team environment, interfacing with ship owners, managers, and international maritime organizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee The companies annual inspection regime, including follow-up measures
  • Handle Port State detention cases and implement appropriate corrective actions
  • Review and process statutory compliance documentation
  • Conduct technical assessments of vessels proposed for registration
  • Represent The company at International Maritime Organization (IMO) meetings
  • Support business development through marketing activities and client engagement
  • Develop technical guidance documents and departmental procedures
  • Serve as Emergency Response Officer on rotation
  • Act as Port State Control Officer when required
  • Provide technical assistance to stakeholders including ship owners, managers, and recognized organizations

Required Qualifications

Essential (must meet one of the following):

  • Certificate of Competency as Chief Engineer Officer (STCW III/2 unrestricted), OR
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a relevant maritime discipline (Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ship Science, Marine Operations, Maritime Science)

Desirable

  • Membership in a Recognized Professional Body (RINA, IMarEST)
  • Senior-level seagoing experience (preferably as Master/Chief Engineer Officer, minimum Chief Officer/Second Engineer Officer)
  • Survey experience with a Classification Society or flag State Administration
  • Senior-level maritime industry experience
