Our client, an environmentally focused American Shipping Company, headquartered in New York are looking to establish and grow their Commercial department. Focused on the dry bulk market, they are in search of someone from a Shipping operations or chartering background for the post. 
 
Responsibilities

  • Assist in the negotiation and fufillment of various contracts within the commercial space alongside the Vice President, involving newbuilding, Chartering and S&P. 
  • Negotiate on contract details with the opportunity to eventually manage contract main terms upon proven capability.
  • Follow up on specific contracts execution as instructed.
  • Work alongside the Operations, Finance and Technical divisions, to analyse and manage specific projects and communicate where needed. 
  • Maintain and grow existing customer relationships and external communications where needed.
  • Provide support and act in place of the VP Commercial when they are absent.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in the role.

Candidates MUST hold a suitable United States work entitlement.
 
What we are looking for.. 

  • Commercially focused background within Shipping. 
  • Degree in Science Majors (a Maritime or Masters is a plus)
  • 5+ years within Maritime Shipping Operations or Chartering. (Dry Bulk is a plus)
  • Excellent negoitation and communication skills is an essential. 
  • Strong analytical capabilities and advanced Excel user. 
  • Confident in communication for different timezones and happy to work outside a 9-5 working structure.
