Job Description:
As part of our ongoing development, we are seeking to recruit a senior shipping analyst to join our market research department. You’ll work in a team of 2-5 analysts covering all aspects of the shipping market, with a specialism in the tanker and dry bulk sectors. Our databases and knowledge are kept at the forefront of the market through close collaboration with our Sale & Purchase brokers, which allows us to produce timely and accurate analysis for use in-house and by our clients. The core aspects of the role include:

• Make concise, insightful contributions to the commentaries in our weekly and monthly market reports.
• Conduct independent research into shipping, trade, and macroeconomic developments, and prepare meaningful, ad-hoc reports and material which present your findings in an easy-to-understand and actionable way.
• Engage proactively with client and broker requests for bespoke analysis and reports.
• Support the maintenance of our extensive datasets and develop new sources of information.

What you need:

• University degree, ideally at master’s level or above, in a relevant field such as Economics, Finance, Shipping, or a Quantitative subject.
• At least 4-5 years of experience in an analytical role in a shipping and/or commodities related environment. The successful candidate should demonstrate a sound understanding of international trade, macroeconomic developments, commodities, and shipping markets. 
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
• Prioritizing, compartmentalizing, and problem-solving skills, through solid analysis and quantitative thinking with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
• Highly computer literate with strong expertise in at least Excel. Experience in programming languages in a business environment such as Python, SQL, R will be considered a plus.
