PFHS Manager – Dubai

We are currently partnered with a newly launched shipping venture headquartered out of Dubai and connected to a new commodity trader and are looking for a PFHS Manager to join their team.
 
The role:

  • Approval and/or preparation of first hire invoices and running hires in IMOS in complete liason to CP.
  • Responsible for review and approval of running hire payments accurately in compliance to C/P.
  • Review and approval of PFHS and FHS from vessel operators after completion of voyage in complete liason with CP.
  • Liaise with treasury to ensure timely charter hire payments for Owners and receivables from Charterers and are accounted in systems / processes.
  • Giving suggestions to operators in hires , PFHS , FHS and ensure to avoid overpayment/ focus on profit maximisation.
  • Supporting operations for timely closure of files with Owners and Charterers including crosschecking FDAs for Owner’s/charterer’s expenses, other Owner’s/Charterer’s expense during the voyage, offhires and performance of vsl.  
  • Negotiate and discuss to drive resolution on the claims, track the outstandings / disputes until file is closed.

Line Operations Executive – Dubai

We are currently working with one of the world’s largest container shipping groups in their search for a Line Operations Executive in Dubai.
 
Main function: 
Line Operations (LO) has a set of duties designed by the Hub Director given the unique nature of the trades of that Hub while performing operational functions like Stowage Planning, DG approvals, monitoring vessel schedules, terminal performance and Bunker related activity, etc. 
 
Purpose of the role: 
To ensure the safe planning and reduction of operating cost of vessels as part of the Line Management team, and to provide a professional link between Vessels Master, Line Management team and location agents in regard to all operational, vessel schedule and capacity matters.
 
Main Accountabilities:

  • Assist Line Management in vessel selection with reference to loadability and operational suitability in specific trade areas.
  • Execution of Voyage instructions to new chartered vessels and ensure that operational procedures are followed by the vesel throughout the charter.
  • Maximize vessel stowage based on CBF declared with minimum shut out / restows due to stowage issues, with equal crane split to optimise cargo operations and without impeding on vessel safety.
  • Schedule update in Bridge for XPF operated vessels and distribute same.

Core Competencies:

  • 1-2 years’ shipping operational experience
  • Minimum Diploma in Maritime Studies/University graduate or equivalent
  • Good knowledge of English both oral and written

Freight Analyst – Singapore

We are currently working with a rapidly growing dry bulk owner/operator in Singapore who are looking to hire a Freight Analyst to join their team.
 
The successful candidate will be part of the founding research team, with well-established experts in the dry bulk industry. 
 
The role’s initial focus will be to build databases and models with guidance from the team. Subsequently, the candidate is expected to assist and be responsible for delivering comprehensive fundamental analysis of commodities’ markets, including supply and demand. Ultimately, the individual will need to integrate commodities knowledge into freight research and be involved in formulating trading strategies.
 
Experience and Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years’ experience in commodities’ markets and dry bulk freight shipping research.
  • High proficiency in English and Mandarin would be preferred.
  • Possess strong in-depth analytical skills, and is meticulous and organised.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and model building.
  • SQL/Python knowledge as well as experience in using visualisation tools (PowerBI, Tableau or Holistic) will be advantageous.

Commercial Operator (Tankers/Chemicals) – Singapore

We are currently working with a well-reputed, global client, and have placed an increasingly active approach to sustainability at the heart of their business model. Due to company expansion, they are looking to take on a tanker vessel operator to join their team in Singapore.
 
The successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial operation and maintenance of a range of tanker vessels. The vessel operator will be expected to successfully and efficiently manage end-to-end operations of owner and time-chartered vessels in order to maximise profits and ensure all requirements of each charter party are fulfilled. They will be expected to maintain vessel status updates and partner closely with the chartering department, clients, outside vendors and shipboard staff. They will be responsible for handling laytime and demurrage-related tasks, and provide on the job training to certain new staff members.
 
The right candidate will:

  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience working with Chemical Tanker vessels.
  • Have a degree, maritime certificates, ICS qualification, or diploma.
  • Have excellent negotiation, numerical, and communication skills.

Demurrage Claims Analyst – London

We are currently partnered with a major international oil and products trading group based in London who are looking for a Demurrage Claims Analyst to be based in their HQ. This is a new hire that will be responsible for the accurate and timely review, issuance, negotiations, and settlement of demurrage claims associated with the transportation of crude oil and chartering activity.
 
The analyst will interface with third parties, including owners, major oil companies, and trading companies ensuring proper management of demurrage claims. This role closely collaborates with trading and shipping operations, finance and accounting, as well as legal departments to ensure accurate information and guidance is being provided to the traders and charterers to reduce risk and exposure to the company and optimize trading profits.
 
Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned demurrage claims, properly auditing and conducting data analysis.
  • Submit demurrage claims, review and counter claims with suppliers and receivers based on purchase & sale contracts.
  • Negotiates demurrage claims with vessel owners based on charter parties’ conditions.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Actively communicates with counterparties to ensure timely collection of receivables. Report the status of demurrage negotiations to traders and management.
  • Work closely with Finance / Accounting to ensure efficient processing of demurrage payables and proper billing of receivables.
  • Monitor demurrage settlements as necessary and resolves account payable discrepancies.
  • Communicate proactively with the shipping team to increase maritime and commercial awareness, and minimize exposure for the company.
  • Thoroughly review contracts and advise traders when laytime and demurrage terms and conditions require realignment.
  • Review third-party contracts and proposals to avoid potential commercial risk.
  • Analyse demurrage trends to understand business updates and advises the trading group in ways to minimize future risk.
  • Develop ad-hoc metrics in handling demurrage claims when needed.
  • Report the overdue claims to team leader and forward the case to legal.
